Security operatives recover corpses of victims killed by gunmen in Anambra
A combined team of military and police operatives have recovered four unidentified dead bodies in Eziani, Ihiala Local Government Council of Anambra State.
The four lifeless bodies were made up of three males and one female. They were allegedly killed by gunmen who stormed the community and started shooting sporadically.
The spokesman for Anambra State Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, who confirmed the incident said police and military operations have been intensified in Ihiala and its neighbouring town.
According to him, security operatives responded to a distress call in the early hours of Tuesday at Nzomiwu street, Eziani, Ihiala, and recovered yet-to-be-identified lifeless bodies, three males and one female at the scene.
“Preliminary information revealed that some criminal elements armed with Ak47 stormed the area and started shooting indiscriminately and unprovoked. Unfortunately, bullets hit four unarmed civilians. The bodies have been deposited in the morgue,” he said.
