Security team gun down 6 kidnappers in FCT

Six kidnappers were reportedly shot dead by the joint security team at Tukuba Forest in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.

A member of the joint security team, who said he was not authorised to speak on the incident, said the operation was carried out between Saturday and Monday in the area.

He said the joint security team, which comprised army, anti -kidnap police team, vigilante and men of secret police stormed the kidnappers’ den to engage the kidnappers.

He said the joint security team succeeded in subduing the kidnappers after exchange of fire, which he said lasted over 25 minutes with the kidnappers.

“In fact, it was a huge success as the joint security team positioned themselves at strategic palaces before raiding their hideouts. And as God will have it, six among them met their waterloo,” he said.

He said some of the kidnappers escaped with gunshot wounds, even as he said some food items including sleeping mats and leather as well as clothes were set ablaze at the kidnappers’ den.

The spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command SP Adeh Josephine is yet to reply to a text message sent to her to confirm about the development as at the time of filing the report.

Recall that bandits have for months been terrorising residents of rural communities in Kuje Area Council, where they abduct and kill their victims.

Three weeks ago, eight women including a wife of one of the village chiefs were abducted by the bandits, until collecting N11 million ransom including food stuffs and Indian hemp before they were freed.
