The Kanwa of Katsina, District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has called on communities in his domain to rise up for the development of their areas through communal efforts.
Speaking shortly before laying a foundation block for the construction community day secondary school in Katoge, Kankara local government, Kanwa said “It has become an old passion for people to fold their arms and wait for government to do everything for them. It is very important for people to embark on self help projects.”
He said the school initiated by communities of Katoge in Ketare district of Kankara local government was aimed at supporting Katsina state government’s transformation agenda in the educational sub-sector.
Kanwa urged the management of the school to liaise with their counter parts of Tsamiyar Jino and Pawwa, who had similar community schools for advice, while parents and guardians to ensure timely enrolment of their wards into school.
Earlier, the Village Head of Katoge, Alhaji Tukur Dan Galadima expressed appreciation to Kanwa for the fatherly role in making the establishment of the school a success.
Dan Galadima said the school started at a temporary site in the village, noting that there were many catchment areas to benefit and feed the school with students.
He noted that students from the area had to travel to Gurbi and kankara for secondary education with eminent dangers of crossing streams and rivers during rainy season.
Also the Educational Secretary in Kankara, Alhaji Kabir Ali said the department would ensure posting of adequate staff to compliment the efforts of community.
