Semi-finalists emerge in Festus Okubor U-12 badminton tourney

The schools are Reading Academy, Patricia Group of Schools, Sacred Heart School and Dominion Group of School.

To get to the semi-finals in the boys’ category, Chinedu Madukalu of Sacred Heart defeated Emma Okolie of Praise Group of Schools 2-0 while Chisom Onianwa of Patricia Group of schools lost 0-2 to Obinna Umunna of Dominion schools.

Henry Ebube of Reading Academy defeated Amos Oguntola of Patricia Group of schools 2-0, while David Onwuegbuzie of Reading Academy beat Jeremiah Ekenechukwu of Patricia Group 2-0.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 10 schools registered for the championships which are being organised by the government.

The sHead Coach, Badminton, FataiTokosi, told NAN that winners of the competition would at the end of the championships receive badminton equipment for their schools.

He also said that apart from the basic equipment for badminton, the winners would receive medals as well as trophies.
