Sen. Bomai, it’s time to hear Yobe South’s plea for empowerment

I pen down these words not in criticism but in a fervent plea for positive change in Yobe South, under the representation of Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai.

As we ushered in 2019 with hope and expectations, Bomai took up the mantle of leadership, and subsequently, the trust of the people was reaffirmed in 2023. However, the yearning for impactful development in the region remains largely unmet.

The plea was inspired by the transformative impact in neighbouring Yobe North.

On December 25, 2023, Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, representing Yobe North, embarked on an empowering mission. He distributed a plethora of essential items ranging from vehicles to farming equipment, addressing the diverse needs of his constituents.

In contrast, Yobe South, despite being the most populous area in the state with a considerable youth population, is yet to experience the transformative effects of significant empowerment initiatives.

The absence of such programmes has left many jobless youths struggling to make ends meet, with little prospect for improvement.

Senator Bomai must take a cue from the commendable efforts of his colleague in the Red Chamber. The distribution of Toyota Land Cruiser SUVs, Peugeot sedans, buses, farming equipment, and various other items is a testament to the positive impact that well-thought-out empowerment programmes can have on a community.

To truly represent the aspirations of Yobe South, Senator Bomai must urgently initiate and implement empowerment programmes tailored to the needs of his constituents. These programmes should encompass a wide range of sectors, from agriculture to small-scale enterprises, creating avenues for sustainable employment and economic growth.

Also, Senator Bomai has the opportunity to turn the tide in Yobe South, to uplift the youth from the shadows of unemployment, and to set the region on a path of sustainable development.

In conclusion, this plea is not just a call for action; it is a reminder of the potential for positive change that lies within the hands of our representatives. Yobe South deserves the same transformative empowerment that other regions have witnessed.

It’s time for Senator Bomai to emulate the impactful initiatives of Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan and bring about a new era of progress and prosperity for Yobe South.
