The Senate on Thursday confirmed Dr. Bernard Doro as minister after screening him during plenary.

Doro’s nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu followed the appointment of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.

During his brief screening, which lasted less than 30 minutes, Doro pledged to build a humanitarian ecosystem that is “inclusive, impartial, and independent.”

Satisfied with his qualifications and responses, the lawmakers asked him to take a bow and leave.

President Tinubu had earlier transmitted a letter to the Senate seeking Doro’s confirmation as minister from Plateau State, citing Section 147 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
