The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has constituted a 45-member committee to review the 1999 constitution.
Akpabio, at Wednesday’s plenary, said the committee would be inaugurated on Tuesday next week and commence the review process immediately.
He said that the committee had one senator from each of the 36 states and the FCT and one from each geo-political zone of the country.
Akpabio directed that all the proposals for amendments to the constitution should be forwarded to the committee.

He explained that the 1999 constitution needed a review because it contained many issues that needed to be put right.
The senate president also directed that all speakers of the House of Assemblies should be invited to the National Assembly for interaction as part of the constitution amendment process.
