Senate president refuses to read 11 senators defection letter

Senator Saraki protests Mark’s action.

The Senate President, Sen David B. Mark, today refused reading the letter written by the defecting Senators on the floor of the Senate.

Senator Saraki protested this action on the floor of the house but in a swift reaction, the Deputy Senate President failed to take further action on the defection letter sent to the Senate leadership.

Deputy senate president Ike Ekweremadu who is presiding over the sittings said “I can’t do anything on the issue until Senate President returns from Jigawa” meaning that the 11 Senators have to wait until Tuesday Next week when the. Upper chamber resumes plenary sitting.
