Condemning the move during a press conference, Jibrin called on his colleagues as well as the caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next Senate to be vigilant over the ambition of Senator Mark to retain his position in the 8th Senate.
Barau advised that the APC caucus should present a single, acceptable candidate for the office of president of the Senate.
He said the PDP caucus would, likely, present a single candidate for same position.
“The implementation of the laudable pledges and electoral promises of the APC would, no doubt, come under threat in the event that the APC failed to produce the next Senate president despite its comfortable majority in the senate.”
Jibrin, the chairman of the House of Representatives committee on appropriations, two weeks ago, urged his colleagues to allow Kano State governor and senator- elect for Kano central, Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, to occupy the position of the majority leader of the Senate.
The senator-elect based his argument on the contribution made by Kwankwaso to the success of the APC in the elections, his wealth of experience and achievements.
