Sen Nwagu, who represents Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, alleged yesterday that a candidate of a political party has employed the services of some youths to carry out such act.
Speaking at a peace accord organised by the state police command in Abakaliki, attended by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 6, Tunde Johnson, Sen Nwagu tasked police to bring the perpetrators of the act to book.
The senator, who is the running mate to the governorship candidate of Labour Party in the state, added that the hoodlums also used money to induce voters.
“I have received reports that some supporters of a governorship candidate in the forthcoming elections have engaged the services of some youths who are busy going from one house to another collecting permanent voter’s cards from voters in some rural areas of the state.
“I was told authoritatively that the thugs use guns to force some electorate to comply and in some areas money,” he alleged, saying the perpetrators might disenfranchise many voters.
