Nnaji also condemned the non-take off of the National Rural Telephony Project despite government’s huge investments in it.
He stated this at the budget defence by the Ministry of Communication Technology and it’s parastatals at the National Assembly.
According to Senator Nnaji “the fact that our nation has little access to broadband services, even with the number of undersea cables running across the country is worrisome”.
He said the senate would continue to criticise the ministry until there is seamless tech communications in the country.
“We can’t shy away from raising alarm in the face of poor quality of service. The situation is perplexing. This is gravely coupled with the apparent quietness and or reluctance on the part of the ministry to kick start the National Rural Telephony Project which is a way of relieving pressure on the GSM”, he said.  In her response, the Minister, Mrs Omobola Johnson, reiterated the commitment of the ministry to its mandates which include speeding up of the building of ICT infrastructure, enabling access of Nigerians to good quality telecom service and high speed internet as well as bridging the digital divide and stimulating job creation in the industry.
