Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka has called on societies to separate culture from religion.
He made the call at the University of Benin during the second eminent lecture series recently. He said cultural traits suffered because religion and culture have coexisted for long and called for the separation of culture from religion.
“Religion has been practiced wrongly and most of the time when we try to marry cultures and religion, culture seems to suffer,” he said.
