Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as Amotekun Corps, have apprehended a man, Monday Ojowuro, who allegedly specialised in robbing commercial motorcycle operators in Akure, the state capital.

The suspect was accused of targeting the cyclists popularly called “Okada riders” and robbing them of their bikes, by hitting them with a pestle at night.

Adetunji Adeleye, State Commander of Amotekun Corps, who revealed the arrest of the notorious suspect, said he belonged to a gang of suspected armed robbers operating within the capital city, Akure, and always preying on commercial motorcyclists.

Adeleye said the suspect was nabbed while allegedly carrying out one of his criminal acts in the part of Akure last week.

“One of his victims, who he hit with the pestle after stealing his bike, is now at the hospital receiving treatment. So, he would be charged to court to face the penalty of his action,” he said.

The Amotekun commander also stated that criminals had also devised new methods of kidnapping innocent people using unregistered vehicles and warned commuters against boarding such vehicles.
