The Yoruba World Congress (YWC), a socio – cultural group yesterday asked Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, to set machinery in motion for the full operation of the planned state security network agency otherwise called Amotekun Corps.

The group specifically asked Abiodun to assent the bill, State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps, which was passed into law by the House of Assembly on March 23.

The leader of the group in the state, Chief Jimoh Taofeek, in a statement yesterday appealed to the governor not to only sign the bill, but also appoint and inaugurate the Board members of the security outfit without delay.

This, he noted, would bring about synergy between the security outfit and other existing agencies in the fight against crime in the state.

He expressed concern over alleged influx of some individuals into the state, calling on the governor to put checks in place to guard against upsurge of crime.

He said, “Ogun State as the gateway state is not just a mere name. Due to the porosity of our borders, there is high influx of able bodied men and women into the state.”
