Seven die in Bauchi auto crash

The police public relations officer, Bauchi State command, DSP Haruna Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists yesterday.
“There was a lone fatal motor accident along Dambam-Potiskum expressway involving a Sharon bus with registration number FGA 766 AA, driven by one Sani Musa, 33, of Tudun Wada, Potiskum in Yobe State. Ten passengers were on board the bus from Potiskum to Kano State. On reaching Zura bend of Dambam Local Government Area, the front tyre of the vehicle burst due to over-speeding. The driver lost control and the vehicle somersaulted into the bush. As a result, seven passengers died instantly while the driver sustained multiple fractures on his legs. Only two passengers escaped unhurt,” he said.
DSP Mohammed added, “ A police patrol team attached to Dambam division visited the scene and evacuated the victims to General Hospital, Potiskum for treatment and postmortem examination.”
He said the identities of the victims were yet to be ascertained, and advised members of the public whose relatives embarked on journey on the said route to visit the General Hospital, Potiskum for possible identification of their relatives. He said investigation was in progress over the incident.
