While presenting the report, the committee   leader, Ikechi Uko, said it took the team 24 months to complete the search, which took them to all the 36 states and the FCT.

He said out of several sites selected, seven eventually made the list. They are in in order of prominence   : “Ogbunike cave, Ikogosi Spring, Yankari Reserves, Mambilla  Plateau, Owu Falls, Farin  Ruwa Falls  and the confluence  at Lokoja.”

Ikechi,  who is the organiser of  AKWAABA, the only  African  international  travel  fair in West Africa, noted that the task of coming up with the “seven  Naija wonders” is a tasking one, as almost all the states in Nigeria  are endowed with different  gifts of nature to select from.

Speaking, the NTDC DG, Otunba  Runsewe  said that the  presentation  will  be used by the corporation  as  destinations centres in its programmes.

He  commended  the team for a job well done,  while calling on states governors who are the custodians of these various  sites  to partner  with the corporation  by turning  them into a tourist centres of international repute and a source of revenue generation for the country.  He said Nigeria is the 6th country in the world to have its own version of “seven wonders” in  sites  and  destinations.
