Wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Regina Akume, has secured the release of over 20 inmates from Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.

The inmates who were to pay fines for their release, could not afford the various sums untill her intervention yesterday.

Regina secured their release when she visited the Kuje centre as part of events leading to his birthday anniversary on December 1, 2024.

“This gesture is for them to breath the air of freedom,” she said.

The Commandant, FCT Correctional Centres, Usman Ibrahim, who expressed gratitude to Mrs. Akume, said, “today, there is a great change.”

Regina Akume, who represents Tarka/Gboko federal constituency of Benue State, also visited different IDP camps in the FCT, where she donated relief materials to the victims.
