The new wave of optimism and silence among the Nigerian populace is seriously worrisome in relation to recent happening in the polity. Looking at the complexity of Nigerians you think our unwholesome bias stops at ethnicity, religion, region, party affiliation, the reality is that it’s far deeper than that we he have descended to an all-time low.
The acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo is making waves around the country because of certain policies that are perceive by the populace to be game changers even though in an actual context they are just scratching the surface of the issues bedevilling the country as a whole. Well, that’s not the aim of this write up anyway; the issue I am trying to look at here is the level in which all of a sudden people opposing this government are finally coming out to say the government is actually doing well and the silence you get from certain quarters who all of a sudden can’t commend anything this government have done recently, who are these people you may ask? Simple the Buhari loyalist that all of a sudden are more concern about defending all the own goals the president spokespersons are making in relation to PMB’s health even though they say he is hale and hearty rather than even post a tweet about activities that is going on in a government that is from their own party.
I am also referring to those people that all of a sudden have found their voice just because the Acting President (Osibanjo) is from their religion and region they are now saying he has an economic policy even though they were among those condemning their party president before for making a lawyer head of an economic team. Sincerely the level of hypocrisy within a single political party is disheartening, I don’t want to talk about the wailers who all of a sudden are now hailers or the Christian group that alleged the Islamization of this country who now believe the country can’t be Islamized or those who use to think that people are dying of hunger but all of a sudden are now realizing Nigerians are no more hungry because there is a different personality heading affairs of the country even though it’s the same people on a joint ticket.
Nigeria as a country needs to work whether it’s done by Mr President a Muslim or his deputy a Christian, it doesn’t matter to me, it’s only political vultures who have certain personal things to gain that would be worried if the President is a Muslim or a Christian, after all looking at past administration and the present you can categorically see that no President’s region has actually benefited economically on the fact that their person is the president. The only thing people benefit is political appointment of which it only benefits the benefactor, his family and allies but not people of that region. If that is the case so what the hell am I disturbing myself on who is leading this country?
The Acting President is doing well from a macro perspective and we urge him to do more even if he is receiving directives from Mr President or not is none of my concern and we wish him well in what he does and pray he continues even when our Hale and Hearty President decides it’s time to come back to the hot seat a steer the country’s mantle of leadership.
