Leader of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, also known as Boko Haram today released a new video showing dozens of the teenagers abducted by his fighters at GGSS Chibok on April 14.
The 17- minutes video showed Shekau in military attires and the girls in Hijab being worn by Muslim women.
Shekau did not give the actual number of girls in his custody but bragged that many of them have accepted Islam while few are reluctant to denounce their faith.
Apparently making reference to the planned intervention by Western Powers, including United States, United Kingdom, France, China and others, Shekau vowed that no forces would be able to trace his whereabouts and rescue the girls but pointed out that he will be willing to exchange them with many of his members, including men and women that are in various detention cells across Nigeria.
Shekau, who spoke in Arabic and Hausa languages said he was “really shocked by the outrage around the world” over the abduction, which he said was ordered by God.
According to him, “All I’m saying is if you want us to release your girls that we kidnapped, you must release our brethren that are held in Borno, in Yobe, in Kano, in Kaduna, in Abuja, in Lagos, up to Enugu. We know that you have incarcerated our brethren all over this country (Nigeria).
“There are some of my brethren who have spent five complete years without seeing their wives, without seeing their children. For God’s sake, even for ensuring their release, will I not kidnap? After all Allah says I should kidnap.
“You that seized and detained my brethren for five years, you arrested and kept a woman without getting married for four, five years, you seized and hold our children.
“You did all these to us and today because we did what Allah already told us to do and you are busy making noise ‘Shekau has kidnapped this and that, he said he would sell’. Yes I will sell. I will sell,” he said.
“Those of them that have not accepted Islam, they are now gathered in numbers. They are staying with us. We will never release them until our brethren are released,” he said.
Beside the Chibok girls, Shekau said there are many other men and women that he has abducted.
The video showed the girls reciting Suratul Fatiha of the Holy Qur’an.
