The Nigerian Shippers’ Council has renovated three Boko Haram-ravaged secondary schools for the Borno State government in fulfillment of its corporate social responsibility.

The schools, all in Maiduguri metropolis, are Government Day Secondary School, Maimalari Barracks, Government Day Secondary School, Maiduguri and Government Day Secondary School, Zajiri.

The Council’s gesture followed the courtesy visit of its Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Barrister Hassan Bello, on Governor Kashim Shettima on November 22, last year, when the Council expressed interest to participate in the rehabilitation of infrastructures ravaged by the insurgency.

The Director of Corporate Services of the Council, Alhaji Balarabe Umar Sumaila, assured while handing over the renovated schools to the state government in Maiduguri yesterday maintained that restoring the structures was more important than publicising the cost.

Receiving the schools, the state Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Musa Inuwa Kubo, said that so many organisations have actually assisted the state government and made pledges but could not fulfill them.
