Sabon Gari: Who represents us?
I am from Sabon Gari local government area of Kaduna State and I want to be proud of my representation in any type but the story is ambiguous. If I look around the villages in my local government area, I almost cry especially at this time of water scarcity that people are spending nights to search for water for their survival. Many of the boreholes in the area have gone bad because there are no access roads linking them for maintenance.  This scenario makes me ask if at all we have a representative in the state house of assembly to fight for and make a case for our welfare. It is like our representative does not think in terms of the larger group. Now the question is, has he abandoned the fingers that fed him; that is the people who voted him into that position? It is like the people of Sabon Gari are on their own to continue the struggle for life.

That molestation case in Kano
How can a woman be capable of what happened in Kano where a boy of less than two years of age was tortured by his step-mother? People are waiting angrily to hear what will become of the stepmothers. No matter what transpired, I cannot understand why and how the boy was cut in several places, including his private part. The Nigerian judiciary must make an example of these women by all means possible. We want to hear of tough prison terms.

Governor El-Rufai, please pay teachers’ salaries
The government of Kaduna State is quick to say it has paid salaries of state government teachers, whereas many teachers have not been paid for several months since El-Rufai came on board. Teachers in Kaduna State are suffering. I know a husband and wife who are both teachers in Kaduna and this has put them in serious financial strain. The state governor should look into this quickly because these civil servants earn meagre salaries and to deprive them of their salaries while cars are being bought for state house of assembly members is treason. Please, let’s have conscience. Perhaps there’s a problem somewhere and they are not paid, but whatever the case is, the government has the responsibility to do something.

Hunting Niger Delta Avengers
The so-called ‘Niger Delta Avengers’ group is definitely not good for this nation; however, the government should be careful about how this is handled. Already there’s a video on the internet where a soldier makes secondary school students in the Niger Delta drink muddy water in the name of searching for the avengers. Whether this is true or not goes to show that we need to be careful or else we will make criminals of the youths growing up in that region. Also, there’s this attempt to put Boko Haram side-by-side with the Niger Delta agitators, but everyone knows this would not work. Treat them with their medicine and not the medicine of Boko Haram. Everyone knows their problems and what they are suffering, so the government should look into it.
