Nuhu Ribadu: A serial defector defects yet again
This writer is one of those people who held and respected Malam Nuhu Ribadu for his incorruptible posture, even when he joined active politics and pitched his tent with the Action Congress of Nigeria where he was fielded as the Presidential candidate of the party in 2011. He suddenly left at the peak period of the election of 2015 and was elected as gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party. It is unfortunate to observe the antics of Ribadu, whose APC comeback is tilted towards him having a shot for the governor’s seat in 2019. We’re happy with the current governor, so Ribadu should know there’s no vacancy at the Adamawa Government House.

My advice to Nigerian youths and job-seekers
If you feel aggrieved over the secret job recruitment at FGN agencies, do not just complain on social media or threaten to vote out APC in 2019. You can match your words with action right now and see results. You can also form an association and appoint your leaders, who will then seek audience with Youth and Sports Minister Solomon Dalung and the APC National Youth Leader to express your grievances, then issue a communiqué. Publish the communiqué in at least two national dailies. People in power hate ultimatums, but citizens also hate to be cheated, so the tie is then even. Your communiqué should demand for a response from President Buhari within a specified period. Failing that, you will take court action against those FGN agencies, their supervising ministries, the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Federal Character Commission (which allegedly granted “waivers” to those agencies). When court action seems likely, mobilize on Facebook and through “word of mouth” to raise funds (e.g. N2 million) for the legal battle to declare illegal, null and void all recruitment at FGN agencies that were not advertised as stipulated by law since June 2015.

On completion of Abuja-Kaduna railway
While some people keep choosing whom they prefer to give credit for the completed Abuja-Kaduna railway project, be it the president or the former president, some of us are just happy. I am excited because it is a dream that has come through and thank God for the achievement. However, one thing I am concerned about is the maintenance of the tracks and the train itself. We are known for starting well and leaving things to rot. Please President Buhari and Governor El-Rufai, do not let this happen. Let capable hands be given the task of maintaining and servicing the trains and tracks and we will remain happy.

Does Abuja have a minister, really?
Abuja is a total mess. For some of us who said the former FCT minister did very little, it is shameful to watch the present minister make him look like a fantastic hero. To show how much the present minister is underperforming, I don’t even recall his name as I write this piece. President Buhari once asked Nigerians if he should sack some of his ministers. Yes, sir! Please sack this present minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for non-functional street lights and a smelly environment with overflowing gutters cause by illegal drainages and bleeding manholes. If in doubt, the president should take a drive from Berger to Utako Motor Park.
