Should Keshi recall Osaze, Uche for Brazil 2014?

I want to take the side of those clamouring that Coach Stephen Keshi should rethink and recall the players. But again, if you said Keshi should rethink, will you said he should invite players who will come to camp to cause havoc? They (the two players) should know that the country is bigger than them. World Cup is not a kid’s party, it is a serious competition where top players are invited to come play for their country. That notwithstanding, we don’t need a player who can’t gel with the others. We need players who will not only respect camp rules but also respect their coaches and colleagues. The players should show humility whenever they get the chance to play for Nigeria again.

I believe that what everybody should put into consideration is the unity amongst the players when they are in camp or when they get to Brazil for the world cup proper. We should try and look at their (the two players) track record to ascertain how disciplined they are. We shouldn’t just look at them now scoring for their respective clubs and all that. When they come to Nigeria, do they put in that same effort as they do in their respective clubs? Or do they come to camp to create factions and complain that the coach is not giving them preferential treatment.
There should be unity, there should be oneness. I don’t see why we have to force the coach to take in Osaze or whoever. I think what we should look out for is those who can give their all to the team and for Nigeria to do well in Brazil come June. That is what should be our priority right now and not who the coach should take along or not.

I think the coach should reconsider them (the two players) because they have the experience and I think they can add bite the Eagles attack. They have learned their lessons during their exclusion and I believe they won’t bring back that same attitude. The punishment has been so long and they have realized their mistakes. Bringing them back, they will want to impress Nigerians.

I think Stephen Keshi has come out to say what he wants and I believe Nigerians should respect him for that. Don’t forget, he is the one that is going to lead the team and he knows what he would need to achieve. Furthermore, he knows what he wouldn’t need. He has come out to say that players that will be going to the world cup must be ready to listen to instructions and not players that will come and distabilise the cohesion that he has relatively built over the last couple of years.
If it were to be a white man who said he wouldn’t recall Osaze and Ikechukwu Uche, nobody would have complained because he’s white and he knows best. Both of them have played for Keshi and he knows why he is saying he doesn’t want them any longer. His position should be respected.

Omobolanle Ogunbiyi
Coach Keshi is the manager of the team and has the final say. He has been saying he has issues with Osaze’s attitude. But the fact is that after Osaze Odemwingie has been out of the team for a while now, I think he has come back to his senses and I know well that he has apologized to coach Keshi. This means that has realized his mistakes and ready to comply. The coach should give him a chance to prove himself and right all the wrong things he’s done. World Cup is not a child’s play. We need players like Ikechukwu Uche and Osaze to cope at that level.

Gani Oloyede
I think the matter should be left to Stephen Keshi to decide. He is the one taking them to the world cup and he knows his players. He knows their temperament and behaviors. He has been hammering on discipline. The Osaze I know before now is a good guy but during the era of Siasia, he lost track and I’m sure it’s the carryover of that era that is affecting him now. Keshi has the right to go with the players he knows he can control when he gets to Brazil. For, Uche, it’s the same discipline matter. According to the coach, he behaved so unruly at South Africa during the Nations Cup. We have other players with good disciplinary record that Keshi can invite, like Victor Anichebe. They should not impose any player on Keshi.
