Should parents pay children to get good grades?

Good grades are important. They show that students are working hard and understanding what they are being taught. Parents want their children to succeed in school as well as in life, and good grades are one way to get there. However, paying children to get good grades is not a great idea and can do more harm than good.

Paying for good grades tells kids not to do things right.

When parents do that, they are telling their kids that they don’t trust them to do well in school on their own. They are actually being told that something is wrong with them and that the only way they will do the right thing is if they are paid to do it. Paying for good grades is a form of bribery. When parents promise cash/money for a good report card they are basically bribing their kids.

However, giving our kids respect, love and kindness will encourage them to do well in life. Parents need to focus on the motivation of their children. Children should also motivate themselves to get good grades and should not be bribed with money to work hard.

Children who are not bribed with money to get good grades will be more successful in life.
