 The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev Alfred Adewale Martins, has enjoined Nigerians to be optimistic and embrace a positive mind-set as they enter the New Year 2022 filled with renewed trust in God. 

 The prelate specifically advised Nigerians to shun predictions of doom, which he noted tended to instill fear and anxiety in their minds.

 He also called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to leave any stone unturned in his effort at safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians, advising him to “inject fresh personnel with first-rate minds in the top hierarchy of our security agencies.” 

In his New Year message signed by the Director of Social Communications of the diocese, Rev Fr Anthony Godonu, the prelate admitted that there were indeed numerous challenges that characterised the outgone year for the country as a whole and for the majority of Nigerians.  

The message reads in part: “But despite the challenges, Nigerians should be optimistic that 2022 would be a better and prosperous year.”
