On August 25, at about 5:00a.m., I was hauled into a vehicle by Sanni Fatai to Abuja by road in the most horrendous manner, not minding my age and health status. I was detained at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, by Sanni Fatai on allegations of murder. 

 “I was, however, released on August 31 but under a very stringent bail condition. On October 16, at the invitation of Sanni Fatai, I went to the Lagos State Command Headquarters, Ikeja, to meet him, but I was arrested and detained again for four days on his orders. Surprisingly, on October 20, I was rushed to an Ebute Meta chief magistrate’s court where Sanni had arranged a remand order in the magistrate’s chambers for me to be remanded in Ikoyi Prison pending the advice of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution.

 “I was remanded in Ikoyi Prison for eight days and charged with murder until October 27 when the DPP’s advice was issued stating that I had no case to answer and that I should be released from prison custody. It is interesting to note that the so-called Sanni Fatai’s investigation stated that there was no obvious connecting link established between Tanko Abdullateef and Dr Nduka Okafor Mang.”

 Dr Mang said he was appealing to the IGP Idris to wade into the matter before someone, he feared, “snuffs the life out of me under the guise of investigating an already investigated matter.”

 Eko Trust made efforts to obtain the comments of Linda Okafor Mang, with calls and a text message to her line. She could not be reached on phone and neither did she reply to the text message sent to her.

 However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olarinde Famous-Cole, said that investigation was continuing into the matter.

  “Since the matter is a murder case and the petitioner is related to both the deceased and the suspect, the police have no other choice but to investigate,” he added.
