A Shari’a Court in Kofar Kudu, Kano Municipal, has remanded two siblings accused of assaulting their stepmother.
The siblings, Fatima Yusuf and Habibu Yusuf, residents of Aisami Quarters in Dala Local Government Area, were charged by the police with criminal conspiracy, use of excessive force, and causing bodily harm.
According to the police prosecutor, the siblings allegedly attacked their stepmother, Hauwa Abubakar, with sticks, causing injuries to her body.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty.
In her defence, Fatima claimed she was only involved in a “minor fight” with the complainant.
Her brother, Habibu, said he did not attack his stepmother, but instead fought with his half-brother, the complainant’s son.
The presiding judge, Khadi Shamsuddeen Ado Abdullahi Unguwar Gini, ordered the police to return the siblings to Shahuchi Police Station for further investigation and adjourned the case to a later date.
