Sickle cell: 6 people require N7.8m for surgery

Six people living with Sickle Cell Disorder in Kebbi State appealed for N7.8 million to enable them undergo a hip replacement surgery.

The chairman of Kebbi State Sickle Cell Association (KESCA), Hadiza Yahaya Shantali, made the appeal yesterday while speaking in Birnin Kebbi, saying the six persons in need of the surgery contacted KESCA for intervention but the association was not in position to raise such huge amount of money.

According to her, the sum of N1.3 million was required by the Federal Medical Center, Birnin Kebbi for each of the patients to undergo the surgery and called on government and highly spirited individuals to come to their aid as the recommended surgery was vital for their survival.
