The Bauchi State chapter of the Association of Sickle Cell Patients has called on the state government to come to the aid of victims by establishing more treatment centres.
Chairman of the association in the state, Alhaji Danladi Muhammad, made the call when he visited some media houses in the state.
He said that in view of the present economic predicament in the country, most patients of the disease could not afford their medical bills, a situation he described as detrimental to the fight against the disease.
 He described sickle cell as one of the dangerous diseases in the country, and called on Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar to take over the medical bills of patients.
