Sierra Leone President to speak at Baze University’s 12th Convocation

The President of Sierra Leone and Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, has arrived in Nigeria ahead of Baze University’s 12th Convocation Ceremony in Abuja.

The visiting leader is expected to deliver the keynote address during the ceremony, which will bring together top African academics, policymakers, and business leaders to discuss strategies for strengthening education, leadership, and sustainable development across the continent.

In a statement, Baze University described President Bio’s visit as an honour and a testament to the institution’s growing reputation as a hub for intellectual dialogue and innovation in Africa.

“We are proud to host this distinguished leader as we celebrate another milestone in academic excellence and innovation,” the university said.

President Bio, a long-time advocate of human capital development, is expected to share insights from Sierra Leone’s recent reforms in education and governance.

His participation, observers say, highlights the deepening collaboration between African nations in promoting inclusive growth through quality education.

Baze University’s convocation ceremony will feature the graduation of hundreds of students from various disciplines, marking another chapter in the university’s commitment to producing skilled leaders for Africa’s future.

The event also reflects the university’s drive to foster partnerships between academia and leadership in shaping Africa’s socio-economic transformation.
