The city of Ibadan, Oyo State, came alive recently as golf lovers, socialites, and sports enthusiasts gathered for the fourth edition of the Oluyole Amateur Open, hosted by businessman and golf enthusiast, Folarin Laosun.
The two-day tournament, staged at the Ibadan Golf Club, attracted top amateur players from across the country, blending competition with camaraderie and celebration. Beyond the game, it also doubled as a social hangout, offering guests a mix of sport, culture, and lifestyle experiences.
Jimoh Sikiru rose above the field to claim the coveted title, playing off handicap 3 to return a 149 gross score that secured his victory. His triumph was the highlight of a weekend filled with standout performances across categories, underlining the strength of Nigeria’s amateur golf scene.
Notable guests added glamour to the event, including Global Marketing Officer of Risevest, Eneyi Obi; General Manager of Marketing at Carloha, Felix Mahan; convener of the Open, Folarin Laosun; Captain of Ibadan Golf Club, Seyi Alaba; Director of Open Field Properties & Management Ltd., Kayode Adebayo; and Lt. Colonel Omale and his wife, representing the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Obinna Onubogu.
Speaking after the event, Laosun — who co-owns the 350-acre eco-friendly Oluyole Golf & Country Estate with Kayode Adebayo — expressed gratitude: “We’re thankful to the players, partners, and the city of Ibadan for embracing the vision of the Open.”
