‘Jamb Question’ crooner, Simi, has thrilled fans in a hilarious video ‘Open and Close.’
The Mass Communications graduate shows her acting skills through the comic character she played in the video which is from her upcoming sophomore album.
In the video, Simi is poised as a naïve yet attractive young lady, who steals the spotlight of a high-octane gig held at the one of the elite suburbs where she woos everyone to her with her dance. The video although entertaining, harps on the power of self-confidence. Despite her unrefined manners, she was able to shine to the envy of those who considered themselves royalty.
In a way, it also reflects the strong personality that the act has become in the industry. Born Simisola Ogunleye, the young talent wrote her first song at the age of 10 followed by early teenage-hood spent honing her skills in a church choir.
Her uncanny passion for music opened the doors for her into the music industry with her debut album in 2008 produced by Samklef featuring hits such as ‘Ara Ile,’ ‘Ogaju,’ and ‘Iya Temi,’ among others.
The afro-pop singer won Best Promising Act at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Award and the Most Promising Act of the Year at the 2015 City People award. She also has two nominations at the 2015 Headies for Best Alternative Song and Video of the Year (Jamb Question).
