Crafted in collaboration with renowned music producer Willis—famous for his iconic “Wi wi wi Willis give dem” tag—Maria is a rhythmic blend of street R\&B, Afrobeat, and jazzy undertones.

The track showcases Noonzi’s evolving artistry, packed with emotional lyrics and dancefloor-ready energy. “Maria is about being completely in awe of the love of your life,” the singer said. “It’s a song that makes you dance, sing along, and feel that spark of new love all over again.”

Drawing inspiration from a real-life romance, Noonzi reveals the track holds deep personal significance. “We both love the song—it’s like reliving our romance every time it plays,” he shared.

The infectious chorus—“Oh Maria Maria, you give me fever”—has already begun generating buzz, positioning the track as a potential chart-topper. Noonzi says the recording process involved multiple iterations in Willis’ Lagos studio but stayed true to the core elements that make the song unique and emotionally resonant.

Maria also sets the tone for Noonzi’s upcoming double album, which he describes as a sonic journey. “The album starts easy, gets energetic, turns melodic, then deep and serious before emerging light, airy, and joyful—ending with a big bang,” he explained. “It’s a roadmap for my career, and I had an incredible time carving it out.”

Looking beyond the single, Noonzi is optimistic about the project’s global potential and is already working on a follow-up. “Nigerians love to dance, periodt!” he said with a laugh. “The early reviews tell me Maria is going to connect—and I’m not stopping.
