Single-parenting worsening moral decadence in Nigeria – VC

Single-parenting has been identified as a major cause of the widespread moral decadence in Nigeria.

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of Al-Hikmah University, Prof Noah Yusuf, said this during a media briefing following the accreditation of 11 new courses for the university by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The development brings to over 50 the number of courses so far accredited for Al-Hikmah.

According to Prof Noah, the high rate of divorce in the country has given rise to single-parenting, which he noted, is a major cause of the widespread of moral paralysis plaguing the country.

He said except we were running away from the truth, it was extremely difficult for a child who grew up under a single parent to have a complete moral compass, especially where the father was absent.
