Presidents Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, Hellen Jonhson-Sirleaf (Liberia), Macky Shall (Senagal) and Ghanaian immediate past president John Mahama are currently meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting is aimed at avoiding violence and preserving democracy in The Gambia.

Gambian President Yahya Jammeh had refused to accept defeat in the last month’s election after he had initially accepted his loss in the December 1 election, but later changed his stance and vowed to cling on to power.

Sirleaf was the first to arrive the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja for the meeting of the ECOWAS leaders being hosted by Buhari. She arrived at 12.20pm, was received

The meeting, being held at the New Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, began at 1.20pm.
