Gov. Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State taking his COVID-19 jab

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday disclosed that over 30 deaths have been recorded in the current third wave of the coronavirus pandemic in Lagos State; noting that an average of six deaths have been recorded per day since last week.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed this while giving update on the third wave of the pandemic to newsmen.

He said epidemiology update from the beginning of the outbreak in February 2020 to date shows that Lagos has recorded a total of 64,032 confirmed cases of COVID-19 out of which 56,336 have recovered in community, with 2,755 currently being managed actively.

He also made it known that about 5,029 patients have been admitted into the various COVID-19 care centres in Lagos while 390 fatalities have been recorded in Lagos out of which 30 took place in the current 3rd wave of the pandemic.

According to the governor, the positivity rate of COVID-19 in the State has risen from 1.1percent at the end of June 2021 to 7percent at the end of July 2021; adding that as at August 1, 2021, the positivity rate in Lagos was 8.9 percent.
