Six killed in Lagos-Ibadan expressway crash

Six people have reportedly died while two others sustained injuries in a road crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

It was gathered that the new year day tragedy occurred at about 2:36am at the NASFAT junction along the highway.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Odunsi Oyewole Afolabi, confirmed the incident in a statement made available to Daily Trust in Abeokuta.

He said the crash involved two vehicles, a Mazda commercial bus and a Volvo truck.

According to him, eight people were involved out of which six died while two others sustained injuries.

“We were told that some good Samaritans took some injured victims to an unknown hospital before the arrival of the team.

“Some victims were taken to Famobis Hospital, Lotto for medical attention. While the dead bodies were taken to the morgue,” he said.

He blamed the accident on overspeeding on the part of the driver.

Afolabi also quoted the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun state,  Akinwumi O Fasakin to have  directed FRSC crash investigators  to carry out a full investigation into the crash.
