Skiibii spoke candidly about the infamous scandal surrounding his death in an interview with Adesope Olajide for the Afrobeats Podcast.

The performer was asked “What was that issue and how did you deal with it?”, and he responded “I have that issue for real, I dey blackout. I don’t like to talk about this p, everybody can say what they want to say.”

He then went on to describe the several times that he had passed out. Twice on a flight to South Africa and another incident occurred at the residence of Nigerian artist Kcee.

However, the scandal occurred in the Surulere neighbourhood of Lagos State after the performer collapsed at his brother’s house, leading passers-by to believe he had passed away.

Skiibii disclosed that he needed medical attention for his illness in the US. As he was getting better, he noticed that social media was flooded with ‘RIP’ and news of his ‘death’ tweets from both followers and other celebrities.

He said “I still remember Wizkids caption, ‘All he wanted was to be happy’”.
