The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has  trained 2, 621 youths drawn from poor and vulnerable households in Cross River, Bauchi, Ekiti, Kwara, Kogi, Niger and Oyo States.

The Federal Government through the assistance of the World Bank is piloting a new approach in the delivery of Skills training so as to provide support through increase access of youth from poor and vulnerable households to employment opportunities and thereby improving their standard of living.

The training which was conducted at three levels commenced in all the participating states with Life skills Training followed by Sector specific skills Training, Entrepreneurship skills training and placement of the trainees for 6 months Internship. 

The Directorate said beneficiaries of the Skills for Job have started receiving the seven thousand Naira (N7, 500) stipend as earlier promised them and that will continue for the next six months internship period. 

The Director General of the NDE, Dr. Nasiru Mohammed Ladan  solicited  for the timely support of State Governors where Skills for Job is currently being implemented to fast track the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Private Sector Organizations in states where the MoU is yet to be signed, and for states  such as Cross River, Kwara, Ekiti and Niger where the MoU has been signed to expeditiously implement the content of the MoU agreement especially in the area of incentivizing Private Sector operators and release of funds for the provision of the starter pack for Interns.
