Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has revealed that all arrangement have been concluded to host its 4th convocation ceremony with the graduation of 223 students, as the institution celebrates eight years of academic excellence, innovation, and community impact.
Speaking during a press briefing ahead of the event, the Vice Chancellor, Skyline University Nigeria Professor Ajith Kumar, said the convocation marks a significant milestone in the university’s journey since its establishment in 2018 as the first international private university in Kano State. According to him, 180 students will receive bachelor’s degrees, while 43 students will be conferred with higher degrees from the School of Postgraduate Studies.
He explained that out of the 180 undergraduates, 24 graduands earned first class honours, 79 attained second class upper division, and 77 graduated with second class lower division.
While breaking down the statistics, the VC revealed that School of Arts, Management and Social Sciences (SAMSS) produced 92 graduates, while the School of Science and Information Technology (SSIT) recorded 88 graduates, adding that among the postgraduate students, 14 earned Master’s degrees in Software Engineering, while others graduated in Mass Communication, Biochemistry, Entrepreneurship, Computer Science, Economics, and International Relations and Diplomatic Studies.
The Vice Chancellor highlighted that the 2024/2025 academic year was remarkable for SUN’s expansion and achievements that include the approval of seven new part-time undergraduate programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC), full accreditation of all existing programmes, and new global partnerships with Keele University of the United Kingdom (UK) and Sheridan College of Canada.
Celebrating student achievements, the Vice Chancellor singled out Ms. Zainab Ahmad Rabiu, a 300-level Software Engineering student who emerged first-place winner at the TISNI Students Expo, and Ms. Fatima Hamzah, a member of the SUN Toastmasters Club, who qualified for the Top Speech and Table Topics Contest.
