Slain OAU student’s brother escapes kidnap in Eruwa

Gbade Adegoke, elder brother of the late student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke, who was allegedly killed in a hotel in Ile-Ife on Saturday narrowly escaped from kidnappers.

Gbade, who confirmed the incident to City News on phone on Monday, said the incident happened while strolling out to buy things in a store close to his house in his home town, Eruwa, around 9pm.

He said some gunmen parked their car beside him and made attempt to bundle him in a waiting car and whisked him away. 

Our correspondent recalled that Timothy, a master student of OAU had travelled from Abuja to Ile-Ife to sit his exams, but he disappeared and his corpse which was thrown inside the bush was allegedly said to have been buried by some hotel attendants.

According to Gbade, who has been at the forefront of demand for justice for his brother since the new broke, policemen and men of the Southwest Security Network popularly called Amotekun rescued him from the kidnappers. 

Gbade further said he had gone to a store close to his house to buy few things but while going back home , the men allegedly made an attempt to kidnap him.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Adewale Osifeso, did not pick calls put across to him or responds to text messages sent to his mobile line.”
