In a bid to stem smuggling activities, the Ogun Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has enlisted the support of traditional rulers in the various border communities.

The Customs Area Comptroller, Ogun Command, Michael Agbara, has resuscitated Customs Community Relations Committee by ensuring that the meeting holds quarterly.

This, according to him, is to enhance the existing customs community relations between the service and leaders of various communities.

According to a statement by Customs Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, Agbara also sought support and cooperation of the community leaders in order to reduce smuggling activities. The Customs Boss reiterated the command’s readiness to collaborate with relevant stakeholders and agencies, both at the federal government level and the local communities.

“In an effort to revamp the relationship between host communities at the Border Areas within Ogun state, the CAC Ogun Command, Controller Michael Agbara held a meeting with heads of traditional institutions along the border areas.

“Issues were articulated on how best to improve Customs community relationship among other discussions,” the statement said.
