But going by what is happening in Rivers State, it seems the APC governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside, will have to consider a less direct way of campaigning in Okrika part of the state.
Three times, the APC had scheduled to hold a rally in that local government where the First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan, who is also the wife of the PDP presidential candidate, hails from and three times the rally had to be aborted.
Initially the office of the party was attacked. That attack was followed by another at a campaign venue when thugs invaded the Okrika national field venue scheduled for the rally and destroyed canopies and gadgets meant for the rally. This week, the rally was aborted for a different reason altogether-the first lady and wife of the PDP presidential candidate decided to visit home on the eve of the scheduled rally. The police, according to an APC chieftain in the area Tamuno Williams, informed the party that it cannot provide security for APC rally in Okrika due to the presence of the first lady.
Since there was no guarantee that the event would be allowed to hold if it is rescheduled, one cannot help but wonder how many times the cat and mouse game would play out before the election.
