So PMB has got it right after all?

Towards the end of last week the former Governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzo Kalu, was found guilty of N7.5 billion fraud and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment, He committed the offence while he was Governor of the state. The Ex-governor is a Senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly, a Chief Whip and a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). It will be recalled that under PMB’s administration, a former governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, a member of APC, and a serving Senator in the 8th Senate, was also sentenced to 12 years imprisonment. Similarly, former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, also a Senator under the platform of APC, was also sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for a similar office. This is a giant step in the history of our dear nation that nobody is above the law, irrespective of party affiliation. In the same week, a former governor of Enugu State and a former governor of Abia State forfeited properties worth billions of Naira to the Federal Government. Former aide to an ex-governor of Imo State also lost a multibillion Naira hospital to the Federal Government. With what is happening today in the fight against corruption, people are made to pay for the consequences of their actions, and if this tempo is sustained, corruption will be reduced to barest minimum

Furthermore, it can be observed that since the news about Senator Kalu’s sentence broke, our activists, opposition parties, and other public affairs analysts have been silent. They had dominated our media outlets in the past with the impression that once you join the ruling party, the charges against you will be dropped. This latest conviction has vindicated PMB. He has never interfered with the trials, in fact, he allows every arm of government to discharge its constitutional mandate without interference. And not just corruption, even in other areas, President Buhari is silently turning this country around. It’s just that he does not talk much. He focuses his attention on doing what is right and does not allow unnecessary distractions to affect his decisions. He is a human being; we cannot expect him to be perfect in everything he does.

We should not pray for him to fail, as his failure will be catastrophic.

Comrade Mustapha Ya’u Gumel, Dutse, Jigawa State.
