Social media buzz: Unfavorable reactions trail AY’s ‘10 Days in Sun City’

Entertainer, Ayo ’AY’ Makun’s new movie, ‘10 Days in Sun City’ recently hit the cinemas amidst unfavorable reviews.

The producer of ‘A Trip to Jamaica’, ’30 days in Atlanta’ got called out for naming his movies in similar format by a netizen kokomaster4d, who said “This AY is not creative at all. All his movies  are only in days… 30 Days in…, 10 Days in…, 20 Days in…, 5 Days…, He cannot give us something new. Just because 30 Days in Atlanta was successful, he wants to try by all means to name all his movies the same way.”

A movie reviewer, Chidumga Izuzu, wrote, “10 Days in Sun City’ is a rehash of the jokes and treats from its predecessor, ‘A Trip to Jamaica.”

Another reviewer, Ife Olujuyigbe, who scored the movie 45 per cent wrote “In 10 Days in Sun City, Akpors’ jokes are funnier, and thankfully, the jokes wrap themselves around the movie, and not the other way around. The visuals are lovely to behold, and the few foreign actors put up a good show. While this film was written and directed by entirely new people, Kehinde Ogunlola and Adze Ugah respectively, the predictable and poorly-executed resolution offers only dissatisfaction at the end of the film. A few laughs here and there, but nothing concrete to hold on to.”

Olujuyigbe however added that the story, while not being the most ingenious, is a big improvement on the last adventure of Akpors.

He said, “it has a lot more direction, but one cannot help wondering if it is the same Akpors that has had all three adventures, or just three different Akporses who look and sound alike.”

A social media user, kingthreatz, reacted to the movie with “Ever since the awful disappointment in “30 days in Atlanta” and “A Trip to Jamaica”. I have concluded that AY has no acting talent. He’s better as an MC. Rather than watch any movie with AY as the main actor, I’ll sit at home and enjoy my usual Tom and Jerry.”

Another user, Chronique, who hasn’t seen the movie was not optimistic either as he wrote, “the ad looks captivating but with the experience of 30 days in Atlanta, I wouldn’t be expecting too much.”
