However, according to reports by Sahara reporters, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had asked the speaker who formally defected to the APC on Tuesday, to resign from his position as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
His defection has brought to an end months of speculations that he would join the opposition. He came close to defection last week when he attended an APC meeting in Sokoto. This move has been greeted with mixed reactions on the social media as pundits made comments on his decision to move to the party.

Who is free: Tambuwal, you are welcome. Never regret whatever happens. This is the will of God.
 Siman Yilkang: Tambuwal is a brave man. For him to take that decision, not even minding his position as the house leader, I salute his courage. But has he made his final decision? You know politicians are funny; it could be an arranged game as usual
 Toyin Adekunle: You cannot sack Tambuwal because you don’t have such power. Speakership is not the post of any political party but a constitutional position in our constitution.
Auwal Abu Musab: Backward never. Go ahead Mr. Speaker, tomorrow’s Governor.
Makewedance: What has being in the PDP got to do with being the Speaker. Was he not elected “fairly” as they claim? Why are they so worried? They have realized the wind of change is coming and they cannot do anything about it. Nigeria must be better.
