Establishment of the two Command Secondary Schools in Sokoto will bolster the standard of education in the state, Chairman, Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has said.
He stated this in Sokoto when he received the Joint Parent Teachers’ Association of the Command Science Secondary Schools, (Boys), Shagari, and the Command Science Secondary School (Girls), Giginya Army Barracks, Sokoto
Senator Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, described the establishment of the two schools as a welcome development.
“This is a strong indication of the formidable will and commitment of the state government to further revamp education," he observed.
He noted education as the best legacy that can be bequeathed on the youths as the future leaders of Nigeria.
The lawmaker pledged to assist in making the schools to be more conducive for effective teaching and learning.
Senator Wamakko advised the managements and PTAs of the two schools to involve all the stakeholders and communities in running them to ensure meaningful community participation in the administration of the schools.
Chairman of the Joint PTA of the schools, Barrister Mu’azu Liman Yabo said the visit was to seek the senator’s fatherly support.
“Senator Wamakko who was also a former Governor of the state is an astute administrator and a renowned Veteran Teacher, whose pedigree in education is unparalleled," he said
Yabo disclosed that the two schools were in dire need of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT), Centres and instructional materials.
