A newly recruited operative of Sokoto Marshal, a State-owned security outfit, has died just a day after participating in the agency’s passing-out parade.
The deceased, identified as Mustapha Namadeena, was among the recruits who completed their training and were officially commissioned during a ceremony held on Thursday at Giginya Stadium in Sokoto.
He died around 12 noon on Friday.
Before his recruitment, the deceased served as the Social Media Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto North Local Government Area.
One of his colleagues, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Namadeena suffered an undisclosed ailment during the training programme and was granted permission to return home for medical treatment.
“He had been unwell during the training and was allowed to go home for treatment. He only returned to the camp on the eve of our passing-out parade, and we were commissioned together on Thursday,” the operative said.
He described Namadeena’s death as shocking, noting that the deceased hailed from Sokoto South Local Government Area.
