Sokoto State government is to set up state commodity marketing board to ensure fair pricing for farmers.
Governor Aminu Tambuwal disclosed this while addressing farmers and fishermen at Goronyo Dam in Sokoto.
He said the commodity marketing board was a way of maintaining economic stability for farm produce all year round.
The governor also disclosed efforts by government to increase the farming capacity of the local communities by attracting tractor assembling company to the state.
He stressed the significance of water resources in the area to the state.
He said in view of the importance of the dam, the state government, along with a private firm, Erisco Foods Ltd, would set up a $250m tomato processing factory in the area in order to allow farmers have their produce processed in their localities.
