Sokoto to sponsor agricultural researches

Sokoto State government is to make budgetary provision for sponsorship of researches in agriculture and animal health  sciences.
Governor Aminu Tambuwal disclosed this at  the National Conference of the Faculty of Social Sciences  Usmanu Danfodiyo University,Sokoto.
“We intend, as an administration, in 2015 budget, to have a provision clearly spelt out for sponsoring research programme being conducted in the institution,” he stated.
The governor underscored the importance of research in the agricultural development.
He said the state government would collaborate with Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto particularly in areas of research in agriculture, animal health science and solar energy.
Tambuwal urged the institution to look into the possibility of establishing a training programme for artisans on maintenance of solar panels and solar power facilities.
“We have solar facilities all over the place. There  is need for well-trained young men and women who can maintain them,” he pointed out.
